The Niger Bend

These baskets are very well made of palm leaf stems – also called petoles – which are twisted together to form the cord which is woven into this basket. This basket is built to last. Made in coastal Ivory Coast this is a traditional basket weaving technique, all made by hand. This basket has a relatively small base and flares to a large opening; the diameter of the top of the basket is slightly greater than its height. 22″ tall x 22 1/2″ diameter at the top. (56 x 57 cm diam.) Tall and wide this basket has a lot of space for laundry or to store linens, blankets, pillows or your kids’ toys. It also makes a great receptacle for tall decorative items or in which a tall plant can be displayed.
