This is a vintage, handwoven bamboo basket from Vietnam. Purchased many years ago on our travels there all the way in the north of Vietnam, Sapa. This basket was mainly used for rice or tea, completed with straps to allow a more efficient means of carrying. These baskets are quite rare now, though contemporary versions are still being made today. This basket is old, and is evident of that by the patina that resides on the edges of the basket. Signs of wear on the bottom, straps, and area that would rest against the back of the carrier show that this basket was used for a long time.
This basket measure 17.5″ x 14″
