The Niger Bend

15 3/4″ (40 cm) long x 8 1/2″ (22 cm) wide x 9 3/4″ (25 cm) high at the highest point x 7 3/4″ (20 cm) high at the center. This is a beautifully carved, very old, authentic stool, among the best of the genre. These stools are and have been for a very long time in common use among the Ashanti people and so have signs of wear. As with many carved wooden objects some checking has occurred as the wood dried. The people who used it did what they could to repair the spots on this stool where this has happened.
